WSU Pathways to Excellence Gala
Each year at Westfield State I have had the honored privilege of being involved in the Westfield State University Pathways to Excellence Galas and the 2015 Hard Hat Luncheon. These events are used to raise scholarship funds for students as well as raise money for the new science building on campus. At the gala my freshman year I was asked to be the student representative speaking in front of the donors. At each gala and luncheon I had the opportunity to present my research projects (featured on my research page). These opportunities have helped me become a more competant communicator of my work in the biology field.

My sophomore year I was actively involved in Biology Club. During the year we gathered weekly and often took field trips. For example, we visited the Springfield College cadaver lab, went to a lecture given by the famous paleontologist Paul Sereno, and went on a whale watch. The club is founding new traditions each year and finding new ways to get students actively involved in biology.
My junior year I participated in the first annual bio-olympics event sponsored by the department. Students got together in organized teams and participated in multiple biology themed events. My team won first place!
