HELENA RHEAULT

The following projects were completed in ArcMAP version 10.4.1 & ArcGIS online:

The Great American Road Trip

This project involved the use of proximity analyses to identify the most efficient driving route to all continental national parks. National parks were also divided into regions for the purpose of isolating smaller trips that still maximize the number of parks able to be visited. A cost analyses compared completing the single driving route to traveling to the regions in multiple trips. Four new national park locations were also proposed based on maximizing tourism to all geographic areas of the United States.

Proposed Locations for Green Housing Developments in Adams & Westfield, MA

This project used raster analysis tools within ArcMAP to identify the best locations for the development of green housing in both Adams and Westfield, Massachusetts. Criteria for isolating these locations involved a required southerly aspect with various levels of suitability where higher wind speeds, lower slopes, and open land use were most desirable.

Assessment of Response Time Change in the Removal of the Little River Fire Station in Westfield, MA

The goal of this project was to use network analysis tools to determine how response times and the number of people in Westfield would be impacted should one of the fire stations in the city close.

Thirteen Cities of Western Massachusetts: An analysis of population size, diversity, & housing

This project was a simply exercise in learning about data visualization techniques, map symbology, and copying Microsoft excel data into ArcMAP. I studied the relationship between diversity and housing within the thirteen largest cities in western Massachusetts using data provided online by MassGIS in order to practice these techniques.
